Oshawa Takes Series 4-2 in Eastern Conference Semi-Final
Facing elimination for the first time this post-season, the Brantford Bulldogs fell 4-1 to the Oshawa Generals on Sunday night at the Tribute Communities Centre, ending their playoff run in Game 6.
Oshawa struck early on the power play, with Luca Marrelli opening the scoring at 4:35 of the first period.
Colby Barlow added another late in the frame, giving the Generals a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
Owen Griffin extended the lead to 3-0 early in the middle period, but the Bulldogs quickly responded.
Marek Vanacker, assisted by Jake O’Brien, netted Brantford’s lone goal just 32 seconds later.
Despite strong offensive pressure, the Bulldogs couldn’t beat Generals goaltender Jacob Oster again.
In the final minute, Griffin sealed the win with an empty-net goal, clinching a 4-2 series victory for Oshawa.
The loss marks the end of the OHL careers for Bulldogs captain Patrick Thomas and defensemen Thomas Budnick and Tomas Hamara.
Thomas departs as the franchise’s all-time points leader, leaving a lasting legacy in Brantford.
