The Brantford Bulldogs continued their strong playoff run with an 8–5 win over the Oshawa Generals on Sunday afternoon, securing a 2–0 lead in their OHL Eastern Conference semi-final at the Brantford Civic Centre.
Marek Vanacker opened the scoring early in the first, followed just 20 seconds later by Nick Lardis, giving the Bulldogs a quick 2–0 lead. Oshawa responded late in the period on a power play, with Callum Ritchie cutting the lead to 2–1 before intermission.
The second period saw an offensive explosion. After the Generals tied it 2–2 on a deflection, Brantford stormed back with goals from Adam Jiricek, Lardis—who completed a hat trick—and a strong effort from the top line. Oshawa stayed close, narrowing the gap to 5–4 and later 6–5, but Brantford held firm.
A scary moment came early in the third when Nick Lardis left the game after a knee-on-knee collision with Andrew Gibson. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs extended their lead with goals from Dylan Tscherna and Noah Nelson, before Patrick Thomas sealed the win with an empty-netter.
Brantford now leads the best-of-seven series 2–0. Game 3 shifts to Oshawa on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
