The City of Brantford is encouraging residents to safely dispose of harmful household materials at the first Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Event of the year, taking place this Saturday, April 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mohawk Street Landfill, located at 20 Morrison Road.

These events offer a safe and environmentally responsible way to discard potentially dangerous items such as unused paint, fluorescent light tubes, lightbulbs, household cleaners, propane tanks, and various types of batteries. When improperly discarded in regular household garbage, these materials can pose serious risks to people, animals, and the environment.

The city has scheduled a series of HHW events throughout 2025 to help reduce the environmental impact of hazardous waste:

  • April 12
  • May 3
  • June 14
  • July 12
  • August 9
  • September 13
  • October 18
  • November 15

Residents are reminded that not all items are accepted at these events. For a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable materials, visit Brantford.ca/HHW.

Participation is limited to Brantford residents, and proof of residency may be required.
