Brantford–Brant MPP Will Bouma has been appointed to several key positions as part of Premier Doug Ford’s newly announced team of parliamentary assistants.

Bouma will serve as Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier, as well as to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Minister of Indigenous Affairs and First Nations Economic Reconciliation, and the Minister of Northern Economic Development and Growth.

The appointments were announced Monday as the Ford government outlined the responsibilities of its parliamentary assistant team, which will support cabinet ministers in carrying out the government’s agenda.

Premier Ford said the team will play an essential role as Ontario responds to new tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump and broader economic uncertainty.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Ontario’s new and returning team of parliamentary assistants, who will step into key roles in their ministries,” said Ford in a statement.

“Now more than ever, our team of parliamentary assistants is ready to support our government’s mandate to protect Ontario and build a stronger and more competitive economy that can withstand whatever comes our way.”

Bouma was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022 and again in 2025.

The Ford government named over 40 MPPs to parliamentary assistant roles. Bouma is one of several assigned to multiple ministries.

The full list of appointments is available on the Government of Ontario’s website.
