A 27-year-old man wanted for second-degree murder has been arrested by Brantford Police following a coordinated foot pursuit on Friday night.

At approximately 10:12 p.m. on April 4, officers located and arrested Bradley George Saunders in the area of Queen Street and Darling Street. Police say Saunders attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by members of multiple specialized units.

The Brantford Police Service (BPS) is crediting the arrest to the collaborative efforts of its Criminal Intelligence Unit, Drug & Firearm Enforcement Unit, Emergency Response Team, and General Uniform Patrol. According to a police statement, the Forensic Identification Unit continues to process evidence connected to the case.

During the arrest, officers reportedly found what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine in Saunders’ possession.

Saunders, who remains in police custody and is being held for a bail hearing, is now facing the following charges:

AD
  • Second Degree Murder – Section 235(1), Criminal Code of Canada
  • Failure to Comply with Probation – Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – Crystal Meth – Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The charges stem from a fatal stabbing that occurred on April 3, 2025, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Officers had responded to a disturbance at a residence on Charlotte Street, where they located a male victim suffering from stab wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after police arrived.

Police have confirmed that the parties involved were known to each other and that the incident does not appear to be random. The murder weapon has since been recovered.

Prior to Saunders’ arrest, police had charged another individual with Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Weapons Dangerous, and Assault with a Weapon in connection with the case.

BPS has extended its appreciation to members of the public for their support during the investigation. They are still encouraging anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to come forward.
