The County of Brant Council has officially approved the newly elected Downtown Paris Business Improvement Area (BIA) Board, which will serve until February 1, 2027.
“The Paris BIA is an integral part of our business community,” said Mayor David Bailey. “I would like to thank the past board members for their dedication to supporting downtown Paris. Volunteering their time on top of managing a small business is no easy feat, and we truly appreciate their commitment and hard work.”
During the previous term, the BIA secured a grant from the Hamilton Halton Brant Regional Tourism Association to launch Saturdays in Paris, a downtown promotional campaign featuring scavenger hunts, dance parties and more. The board also oversaw a strategic rebranding of Downtown Paris.
The newly appointed board includes:
- Chair: Penny Ritchie (Pennylane Dermal Solutions)
- Vice Chair: David Mahn (Paris Dental Centre)
- Treasurer: Sandra Sousa (YNCU)
- Secretary: Zack Haight (Sotheby’s)
- Director At Large: Amy Jackson (Flawless Beauty and Health Spa)
- Director At Large: Emery Silva (Bird and Bee Vintage)
- County Council Representative: Lukas Oakley
“I am looking forward to utilizing the business diversity of our new board,” said Chair Penny Ritchie. “Maintaining a strong relationship with the County, businesses, and our community as we head into the Downtown Dig will be essential. Our goal is to ease the impact on businesses and come out stronger as a community.”
The BIA acts as a liaison between the County of Brant and the downtown business community. With major downtown reconstruction—known as the Downtown Dig—set to begin in early April, the new board will prioritize support, promotion, and strategic initiatives to help businesses navigate the changes ahead.
