Brantford Police Service Sergeant Jay Fenton and Constable Adam Fisher have been nominated for the Police Association of Ontario’s 2025 Hero of the Year Awards, recognizing their commitment to fostering trust and positive relationships within the community.

Sergeant Jay Fenton has been nominated for The Extra Mile Award for his ongoing efforts to connect with children through annual visits to a local daycare.

For the past four years, Fenton has organized these visits, bringing police vehicles, fellow officers, and even the K9 unit to provide children with an interactive and engaging experience.

The initiative began with a display of the service’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) vehicle, which captivated the young audience and has since expanded to include a variety of police vehicles, educational materials, and hands-on activities.

Fenton’s efforts have allowed children to explore police vehicles, ask questions, and engage with officers in a positive and welcoming environment. He has also provided coloring books and other materials to reinforce safety awareness. The daycare staff expressed gratitude for his continued commitment, emphasizing the importance of fostering trust between young children and law enforcement.
