A two-month investigation into drug trafficking in Brantford has resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit substances.
Dubbed Project RUSH, the operation was supported by Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario through funding provided by the Ontario Government, Ministry of the Solicitor General.
In January 2025, the Brantford Police Criminal Intelligence Unit launched a drug-related investigation targeting individuals suspected of trafficking cocaine.
During the course of the investigation, police identified a male suspect allegedly involved in distributing cocaine within Brantford and its surrounding areas.
On March 6, 2025, police arrested the suspect outside an establishment on Dalhousie Street, Brantford.
The 29-year-old man was taken into custody on reasonable grounds that he was in possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Officers found 7.2 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, valued at approximately $700, along with a large sum of Canadian currency.
Following the arrest, police obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence in Burford. Inside, investigators uncovered a more extensive drug operation.
Officers seized 194 grams of suspected cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $19,400, along with Xanax tablets worth $3,200. A substantial amount of Canadian currency was also confiscated, further linking the suspects to drug trafficking activities.
A 29-year-old man from Brantford is facing multiple drug-related charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking benzodiazepine (Xanax).
A 30-year-old woman from Brantford has also been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
Project RUSH represents another successful initiative in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime in Brantford.
The Brantford Police Service emphasized its ongoing commitment to minimizing the threat posed by illicit substances, reducing violence associated with drug trafficking, and dismantling criminal networks.
“The successful completion of this investigation underscores our dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of the Brantford community,” police officials stated.
“By disrupting these operations, we are taking a proactive stance against drug-related crimes.”
The Brantford Police Service expressed gratitude for the continued support and funding from Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario, which played a critical role in this operation.
