The Brant-Brantford Community Paramedic team was among an exclusive group invited to present at the Ontario Community Paramedic Knowledge Exchange Expo in Toronto.
Out of 56 paramedic services across Ontario, only eight were selected by Ontario Health West to showcase their initiatives, with Brant-Brantford earning a place for its Outreach Program.
The Outreach Program focuses on assisting individuals experiencing homelessness by connecting them with shelters and working toward securing permanent housing. This effort is carried out in collaboration with Brantford Housing and Bylaw Services.
Brant-Brantford Community Paramedic Curtis Madden, alongside Dawson Hayworth from Brantford Bylaw Services and Mary Jardine from Brantford Housing Services, co-presented the program.
Their contributions were recognized with Certificates of Appreciation, an Ontario Paramedic Challenge Coin, and a donation made in their names to the Ontario Paramedic Memorial Fund.
The event welcomed attendees from across Ontario, Canada, the United States, and Ireland, including health and social service leaders, physicians, and paramedic professionals.
Chief Mike Nolan of Renfrew Paramedic Services, a prominent figure in Ontario Community Paramedicine, commended the team’s presentation.
Representing both the County of Brant and the City of Brantford, the Brant-Brantford Community Paramedic team continues to demonstrate dedication to community support and public health initiatives.
