The City of Brantford has opened submissions for local musicians to contribute to the 2025 iteration of Trail Mix, a program that integrates local music with the city’s trail system. Artists from Brantford, the County of Brant, and Six Nations of the Grand River are invited to submit up to three original songs for consideration. The Trail Mix 2025 playlist is set to be released on National Trails Day, June 1, 2025.

Trail Mix features curated playlists available along a designated 10-kilometre stretch of Brantford’s trail system, spanning from Hardy Road to the River Road/Dike Trail intersection. Signs with QR codes are posted at kilometre markers, allowing users to access one of ten playlists. Each playlist consists of three songs, providing an opportunity for trail-goers to engage with the local music scene during their outdoor experience.

Adrienne Briggs, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the City of Brantford, emphasized the significance of the initiative. “We are excited to highlight a new group of musicians in this year’s Trail Mix program. Now in its fourth year, this is a wonderful opportunity for local artists to gain exposure and showcase original songs to trail users who can listen and enjoy these playlists for free.”

The Trail Mix program has previously featured artists such as Tyler Wilson, James N. Wilson, Emma Theresa, and Calm Canopy. Musicians interested in participating can submit their original work through www.discoverbrantford.ca/TrailMix. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 28, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Selected musicians will receive $50 per song. Additional inquiries can be directed to culture@brantford.ca.
