A 37-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, following an alleged Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) incident in Brantford.

Officers from the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to an English Lane residence at approximately 12:30 a.m. on February 14, 2025.

The call followed a report from the hospital, where a woman had arrived with life-threatening stab wounds.

Police arrested the accused at the residence without incident. Authorities confirmed that the victim and the accused were known to one another, categorizing the case as IPV-related.

Investigators assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety.

The accused has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of disobeying court orders, and two counts of failing to comply with judicial release conditions, all under the Criminal Code. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police underscored that IPV remains a critical issue, noting the profound risks for victims in abusive relationships.
