In a heartwarming display of community support, the Paris Seniors Club 99 has stepped forward with a generous donation of $3,000 to aid the development of the Wilkin Family Community Centre.

Mayor David Bailey lauded the club’s commitment to bolstering community spirit, stating, “This donation reflects their commitment to fostering a sense of community and belonging for seniors and residents across Brant. We are grateful for their ongoing support.”

Founded in 1962, the Paris Seniors Club 99 has long been a cornerstone of social engagement for seniors in the community, offering a welcoming space where individuals can connect, socialize, and participate in recreational activities. The donation to the Wilkin Family Community Centre symbolizes the club’s dedication to ensuring that such foundational spaces continue to thrive. Brenda Carballo, President of the Paris Seniors Club 99, remarked, “The Paris Seniors Club 99 is proud to support the Wilkin Family Community Centre. This facility will not only honor our history but will also provide a space for generations to come to gather, celebrate, and engage in meaningful activities. We are excited to see this vision come to life.”

Located at 169 Grand River Street North in Paris, the Wilkin Family Community Centre is set to become a vibrant hub for indoor and outdoor recreation, family gatherings, cultural events, and various activities for residents and visitors alike. Notably, it will be Brant’s first net-zero building, a hallmark of modern sustainable design. The center is expected to encompass approximately 2,055 square feet of indoor space, and it will serve not only as a venue for the Paris Lawn Bowling Club but also as the new home of the Paris Seniors Club 99, preserving the legacy of community connection.

With a construction cost projected at $1.6 million, the fundraising campaign aims to raise $400,000 to mitigate the project’s financial impact on the municipality. Since launching in March 2024, the committee has actively sought community donations and engaged with local businesses and organizations. Naming opportunities for various features within the center are available, with all contributors recognized on the Donor Wall in the Great Room, emphasizing the community’s collaborative effort.

For individuals looking to support the campaign or explore naming opportunities, they can reach out to Lesley Jackson, the Director of Community Partnerships, at 519.44BRANT (519.442.7268) ext 3218 or via email. More information about the Wilkin Family Community Centre and involvement opportunities can also be found on its official webpage.

The generous donation from the Paris Seniors Club 99 highlights the enduring role of community organizations in enhancing local values of connection and support, ensuring that the County of Brant’s spirit of togetherness remains strong for years to come.
