The Brant County Health Unit (BCHU) and Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) have received approval from the Ministry of Health to merge into a single organization, Grand Erie Public Health, starting January 1, 2025.
The merger, supported by provincial funding, aims to enhance public health capacity, improve service delivery, and strengthen partnerships across the County of Brant, the City of Brantford, Haldimand County, and Norfolk County. Both units have a history of collaboration and shared regional challenges.
While full integration will occur gradually throughout 2025, current programs and services will continue without disruption at existing locations. Officials emphasize a focus on continuity, equitable access, and addressing health disparities during the transition.
